A trusted source of veterinary and surgical supplies, DV Medical Supply, Inc., operates under the leadership of Dr. Stephanie Ferguson and her husband, company founder Neal Hyams. DV Medical Supply supports several charities, including ChildFund International, which provides services to the 570 million children living in poverty around the world. Since 2010, ChildFund has operated the Children’s Voices survey, an annual survey that asks children questions about their lives, the issues that affect them, and their hopes for the future.
A total of 6,226 children between the ages of 10 and 12 years old took the 2016 Children’s Voices survey. Despite surveying children across 41 countries, ChildFund discovered that 98 percent of participants class education as being highly important to them.
Beyond this, the survey revealed some startling statistics about school safety. Less than two-thirds of children believe that their schools are always safe while 14 percent of children in Senegal noted that their schools never feel safe.
The survey also noted some disparity in the way children from wealthy countries, such as France and the United States, viewed their futures in comparison to children from developing countries. In wealthy countries, 64 percent of children believe that education is the pathway to a quality job, a statement that only 40 percent of children living in developing countries agree with.
